MEETING WITH THE RESOURCE PERSON FOR THE PREPARATION OF THE REGIONAL TECHNICAL MEETING ON MARINE DEBRIS AND ALDFG, 30 OCTOBER, 2025, SEAFDEC/ MFRDMD OFFICE, CHENDERING, TERENGGANU, MALAYSIA.

On 30 October 2025, SEAFDEC/MFRDMD convened a meeting with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fauziah Shahul Hamid from Universiti Malaya (UM) to discuss preparations for the upcoming Regional Technical Meeting on Marine Debris and Abandoned, Lost, or Discarded Fishing Gear (ALDFG), scheduled to be held in December 2025 in the Southeast Asian region. The meeting included preliminary reviewing and analyzing feedback received from five (5) ASEAN Member States (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Thailand) based on the Marine Debris and ALDFG Questionnaire that had been distributed several months earlier. The meeting also discussed the initial draft of the Technical Guidelines on the Status of Abandoned, Lost, and Otherwise Discarded Fishing Gear (ALDFG) and Measures to Prevent and Remove ALDFG in the Southeast Asian Region.
